Our Structure…
Values into Action’s structure consists of two levels: the first is made up of those closest to the person receiving services and include her family, friends, advocates, personal assistants and other allies. The second is comprised of coordinators, directors, student interns, and the managing partners who act as the Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Executive Officer.
Values into Action is an organization that thinks big but acts small in that the person with a disability is treated as a customer…someone with a desire or need for something (in this case, services), ideas about what kind or type of service he wants, the resources to purchase it and the freedom and authority to get it from who he wants, when and where he wants and to change his mind (and vendor) if he is not satisfied. Values into Action enables our customers to think and act big--they are the boss of us.
Values into Action works from the assumption that people know themselves best so the organization is not set up to manage “programs” but rather to offer people the opportunity to direct their services and supports so they can get about the business of leading their own lives. The work begins with listening intently to what people say they want their lives to look like; it proceeds with their ideas about what services they want and need to live it their way Values into Action associates help them articulate, organize and mobilize the resources needed to operationalize their aspirations.
